We have many great reasons for using ingredients from Cornish suppliers to create our tasty food range. Firstly, it is of great benefit for the local economy - we spent around £10million on local farm produce last year. By supporting these neighbouring farmers, it means we can always guarantee the freshest ingredients that never have to travel too far and which make our delicious range of products taste great!
And, of course, let’s not forget our carbon footprint. The fewer the miles a delivery vehicle has to travel, the smaller our impact on the environment.
To us, it makes perfect sense. We’re good friends with the local people who supply our ingredients – there’s a mutual trust and a good working relationship which, at Ginsters, we see as vital to our success.
Here are some examples of our local sourcing:
Until recently, the practice of growing milling wheat had almost died out in Cornwall. Now, however, we are growing it locally again and are aiming to expand the amount of local wheat we use from farms across Cornwall.
